The resident artists are taking over the gallery now that the sugar sugar show has been taken down! Michael Ryan and Bradley PLatz have stuck some giant canvases on the gallery walls and have been spending hours collaborating. Tomorrow a figure model will be doing her thing from 5-11p.m. There will be around 8 of us painting and drawing her for six hours. I can't wait! I hear she has style and attitude.
A new resident artist, Grace, has been making adorable give cards and is hoping to concentrate on some new art. She is a cool gal that lives only two blocks from me in the mission!

this is zana enjoying some of the cotton candy served. I love her shirt!
everything was sewn together, even the fluffy bottom part, and had different details added. my favorite part were the sewn chains.
here were some brown baggers enjoying the piece. two of the girls were in there for most of the night!
Here's a part of the installation that continues out of the room.

gee. it's late and I'm feeling sentimental. I wish i had one of Gonzo's audiomonsters to listen to music from the 90s and snuggle up to. 111 minna tonight was really great! I was all about Buders piece and Michael Page's sad rage made me happy. I took a couple bad pics of Gonzo one and decided to stitch a late night monster of him myself.

look at the bottom of this photo. do u see feet? Josette is inside one of the trees and RosieBunny is wrapped up in one. These trees were made for the last show "half past midnight. They were pretty amazing by Bradley one of the resident artists with recycled boxes and tape.

no more trees must paint everything white!!!
for a show called sugar sugar this is the most damn colorful show I have every seen. You are going to feel like it's summer when you walk in. most of the artists unexpectedly have nature animals in thier work. To make things even more sugary summer fun we are serving cotton candy at the opening! PINK AND BLUE!!!
I am still trying to put some winter feeling in to offset this happy happy joyous art show.

Chris lux painted a mural on the roof in the middle of the gallery. if you walk into the hallway going from the main gallery to the studios in the back, stop and look through the windows and you can see his mural.

He recently was in SF's Clarion alley's mural project. Here is art business' take on it and toward the end is a pic of chris's mural.

I met stephanie at the open studios this past october. I had already seen her work online and couldn't wait to met her.
She droppped off her work today and it was the first art hung. yeyeyeyeyeyey!

ya ya ya! this is Josette! she is the owner of the gray area gallery. josette and i painted the gallery all night with the aid of our friend Rosie. Josette taught me how to spackle my new found love.
I met her at the hear gallery L.A. which was created by josette. she gave that gallery/nightclub to some friends so she could move up here to SF and start another. The hear gallery is currently re-locating i think. I went down there last (april?) for the Sanfrangeles show. The gray area gallery is going to have the second sanfranglels show i think in March.

Katja Ollendorff

I can't wait to meet this person. I've been trying not to stalk her like i have to all the other artists in the show. We've only talked on the phone once and that was when she agreed to be in the show. Her work is adorable minimal embroidery with thread and wire. Katja is part of the online gallery called beholder-art!!!

He boldly goes farther than just hanging it on the wall. Scott is going to create a shrine, display vases with neon fake flowers, and draw on the wall to compliment his ink illustrations of different textures on colored paper.

Every time I talk to Hannah Stouffer I find out another amazing thing that she does or has done! For instance, she teaches painting. Another Example, she's done work for poketo.com, the L.A. based art/fashion company. It's Endless!!! see for yourself at www.grandarray.com
I have taken all the pics on this. I went alittle crazy on this one. The background is a piece by hannah called 'dust to dust'.

I can't sleep tonight. Icecream before bedtime is not a good idea. After listening to my ipod in the dark for a few hours I decided to post about Relax3:30. This cutie pie is decorating 6 skateboards that will be part of a long term series. Each Skateboard will have it's own color and animal with a graphic feel and pattern background. My favorite is the elephant. Can you imagine an elephant on a skateboard? Oh I must be falling asleep. There is definately something soothing, but powerful about Relax330's work.

this is Kylea Borges. She is an amazing artist who will be doing decoupage on vintage books and the only artist creating an installation in the sugar sugar show. She has been the sole creator of Death & Co. fashion for the past 5 years, too. You can purchase her clothes at Venus superstar.

i scanned the back of a dunkin' donut's sugar package for the main title on the front. Jacob Sperber took images of sugar that he photographed himself and layered them over one another to piece a fabricated look. I got the font on the back from Dafont.com and Josette finished the rest.
